MARIANO MANGAS was born in Aguilar de Campóo (Palencia). When he was very young, his family settled permanently in the city of Burgos.
He graduated in flamenco guitar from the Rotterdam Conservatory, Holland (2001), and in classical guitar from the Madrid Royal Conservatory of Music (1998).
From an early age he has given many concerts both solo and with different musical groups in Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, France, Holland, Portugal, England, Mexico, the United States, Kuwait and India. On the other hand, he has made recordings for TVE, Swiss Television, TV Castilla - León, among others.
Throughout his musical career he has obtained a multitude of provincial, national and international prizes, among which it is worth highlighting: an honorary diploma in the Provincial Musician-Vocal Ensemble Contest of Melilla (1973), first prize in the III Young Musicians Contest Burgaleses, guitar soloist in the II and III Burgaleses Young Performers Contest, guitar soloist in the cultural program Jóvenes en Concierto and 'Young soloists and young groups from Castilla y León' in different years of the nineties, second prize in the First Soria Guitar and Poetry Competition (1978) and finalist in the international guitar competition in Nimes (France). He recently received a special mention for the music in Maite Uzal's short film 'Olvido' at the Venezuela International Film Festival (2017).
He has taught flamenco guitar for six years at the Pablo Sorozábal Professional Conservatory of Music in Puertollano (Ciudad Real) and since 2008 he has taught these classes at the Arturo Soria Professional Conservatory of Music in Madrid.
From 2001 to the present he has released five CDs: Guitars (2001), recorded in New York with jazz guitarist Doug Munro with whom he is touring the United States. This disc is distributed in the United States, Germany and Italy. The hifi sound of guitar (2005), distributed in China, Japan, Thailand and Korea. Romantic Spain – Nouveau Flamenco (2007), distributed in Russia, Japan, England, USA and Canada. In December 2009, he recorded the CD Calle del Puente with almost all of his own music and paid homage to his hometown of Aguilar de Campóo (Palencia). In December 2013, he recorded From where the word, if not from the water, poetic-musical yield with the writer and poet Tino Barriuso.
